Vishnu Lamba, known as the TreeMan of India, was born on 3 June 1987 in Lamba village, in Tonk district, Rajasthan. Our village is situated on the banks of the Banas River. Since childhood, I had an inclination towards plants, rivers, trees, animals, and birds. The stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata, heard in my childhood from my mother, Mrs. Sushila Devi, made my conscious spirit aware for social service. When, I did not feel like studying, my father sent me to Ramachandra Das Ji Maharaj of Balaji Temple for cultural education. Here, my mind became anxious to become a monk.

As a child, thinking of animals, planting saplings, and watching them grow gave me a strange feeling. This feeling turned into a passion, and the passion became such that I started to steal plants from the homes and fields of others as well. All this forced my father to send me to study at my uncle’s place in the city. My humble father rescued the village but could not get rid of my passion for tree plants. The increasing pollution and environmental imbalance in the city and the indifference of the people towards nature conservation gave me a big goal.

Plant Trees Save Earth

Plantation work through Shree Kalptaru Sansthan

It was difficult to achieve the goal of saving the dwindling earth by planting trees extensively on our own. That is why Vishnu Lamba created an institution called Shree Kalptaru Sansthan. To which young men and women were added and made them aware of the importance of plantations. Gradually, the caravan grew, and today this institute has accomplished the unprecedented task of growing 72 lakh saplings in the country and distributing them free of cost during last 27 years. Currently, this institute is working with its workers to make 100 villages environmentally friendly.

Innovation

The tradition of new environmental marriage, in which only two plants are given in Kanyadaan without taking dowry.

Procession of trees was taken out in Jaitaran tehsil of Pali district.

More than 500 Vriksh Mitra conferences were held in Rajasthan.

A mass campaign was launched to conserve the national bird peacock.

The unique tradition of welcoming with a Tulsi plant in place of the garland and bouquet was started in the Jaipur Literature Conference at the international literarture festival in Jaipur.

The institute has taken up the task of preserving rare species like vermilion.

Public awareness work is being done through the Vriksh Mitra Sansthan Samman ceremony, the Birds Mitra Samman ceremony, Sarovar Pujan, tree worship, environmental consciousness rallies, free medical camps, and blood donation camps.

Contribution to the field of environment

Vishnu Lamba has set a record for growing, planting and distributing 1 Crore saplings through Shree Kalptaru Sansthan. This campaign of his is an important initiative in tackling serious problems like climate change in the present time. Through his environmental protection campaign, Mr. Lamba has not only sensitized thousands of youth in the country about their responsibility towards trees and nature but has also connected them with his campaign. This campaign will help in preparing a new generation for the protection of the environment in the future with a dedicated spirit of environmental protection.

Shree Kalptaru Sansthan has played an important role in educating the public about the importance of conservation of medicinal plants like Amla and Neem Khejdi Giloy, and importance of these species in the current corona crisis, and their utility to the public. He is working to advance the eternal ideology towards the nature of the country by preserving the rare species of vermilion and connecting the environment with the Indian traditional ideology.

Influence in society

Mr. Lamba, discovered the great revolutionary families of India and brought the former dacoits of Chambal to work for the environment, which drew the attention of people for environmental protection at a global level. Younger generations are coming forward to meet the families of these revolutionaries and are planting saplings at their birthplaces and the sites of their sacrifices. The former dacoits of the jungle are extending their help to confront problems such as cutting down green trees, illegal mining, and hunting.

For the last 27 years, Mr. Lamba has not only worried about the conservation and promotion of water, forest land, and animals, but has also set the best example in the environment through public participation, due to which people are understanding the serious challenges like climate change in society. A large group has been formed, there has been awareness among people about environmental protection and promotion, and Lamba in particular is an ideal example of an environment for the youth today. Due to his efforts, many panchayats in the country are moving towards efforts to give a natural environment to their villages and create eco-friendly villages. Today it has become a natural notion in society that without money nothing can be done, but Shree Kalptaru Sansthan has set standards of social service by not taking any grants from the government and still planting millions of trees of their own. Have done, distributed, and saved millions of green trees from being cut down. Today, with his inspiration, forest management committees have been setup in many villages at the panchayat level.
